We should get one more look at Robert Griffin III and the Cleveland Browns before the regular season opens. Head coach Hue Jackson said on Monday that Cleveland’s starters would play in the fourth preseason game, according to Cleveland.com reporter Mary Kay Cabot.
Robert Griffin III will play vs. Bears, fantasy value still low
We break down the fantasy implications of Robert Griffin III getting one final tune-up game.
The Browns host the Chicago Bears on Thursday for their finale. Many teams rest their starters in the fourth preseason game, but Cleveland cannot afford that luxury. With a new offense and RGIII needing every rep he can get before the regular season, it will be good seeing him in action one more time before Week 1.
Fantasy Spin: If the Browns play all of their starters, this will be just the second time RGIII has played with Corey Coleman and Josh Gordon in the lineup. So far this preseason, we’ve seen flashes of what RGIII looked like in his early Washington days, which could make him a very attractive backup quarterback in fantasy drafts.
But that is all you should view him as until the regular season opens. His current ADP has him going undrafted in most leagues, so target him as a high-upside backup quarterback.
