With the regular season looming, Josh Doctson is still recovering from his Achilles injury. On Tuesday, Washington head coach Jay Gruden said Doctson still cannot run at full speed, according to Master Tesfatsion of The Washington Post.
Josh Doctson close to practicing, fantasy value still low
We explore the fantasy implications of Josh Doctson continuing to progress towards a return from his offseason injury.
Gruden added that Doctson is “very close” to being cleared to practice. While that sounds encouraging, Washington has been quiet about Doctson’s Achilles’ tendon injury.
This comes after a cryptic tweet by Doctson that seemed to indicate he is close to a return. It looks like Doctson will not play in the final preseason game this Thursday. That means we will not see the first-round pick out of TCU in action before the regular season begins.
Fantasy Spin: While Doctson has great upside and the potential to be a big-time producer, he has missed too much time to be effective in this already-stacked offense. He has little-to-no fantasy value as he enters his rookie year.
