Quarterback Josh McCown may not be starting for the Cleveland Browns, but several NFL teams could use him as their No. 1 quarterback. However, the Browns are unlikely to trade McCown, according to Cleveland.com reporter Mary Kay Cabot.
Browns keeping Josh McCown means no fantasy football value
We break down the fantasy implications of Cleveland keeping Josh McCown on the bench vs. giving him the chance to start for another team.
Cabot also notes that the Dallas Cowboys tried to trade for McCown, but Cleveland’s asking price was too high. Dallas could use McCown with Tony Romo sidelined with a broken bone in his back. The Minnesota Vikings could be another team to watch for after losing Teddy Bridgewater to a torn ACL.
Fantasy Spin: If McCown were to land with either team, he could become a decent fantasy quarterback in those offenses. If he remains in Cleveland, McCown will have no fantasy value this year outside of Robert Griffin III going down.
If that happens, McCown could be a decent fantasy option in Hue Jackson’s offense. Until then, keep McCown off of any fantasy teams you have.
