Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James is hoping to be more involved in the team’s offense in 2016. He recently stated that he wants, “to be a primary option for (the Steelers),” this year according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday.
Jesse James wants ‘to be a primary option’ in 2016, could be a late-round fantasy steal
Due to injuries, the Steelers’ tight end should see an increased role during the regular season. We explore the fantasy implications.
With Pittsburgh adding Ladarius Green to the team’s PUP list on Tuesday, more will be expected from James this season. But the Steelers’ second-year tight end is not worried about the added pressure heading into the year -- he also added that he feels “confident” about his role right now.
Fantasy Impact: For 2016, James’ status with fantasy owners may look a little different with Green now scheduled to miss at least six games for Pittsburgh. Before the Green injury, James was highly unlikely to be selected in any fantasy drafts this year.
But with an increase in plays and targets more likely to be in the near future for the tight end, he may be a good option for fantasy owners to snag in the last round or two of their draft. Plus, any player that has Ben Roethlisberger throwing them passes usually seems like a safe bet to put up some impressive fantasy numbers.
