Women’s gymnastics 2016: Time and TV schedule to watch Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and the rest of Team USA in prime time

The United States women’s gymnastics team is favored to come away with the gold in Tuesday’s team final, just as they did in London in 2012. The final was held at 3 p.m. ET, but NBC will air it this evening in prime time.

After Team USA absolutely dominated the qualifiers with a score of 185, finishing a full 10 points higher than its closest competitor, China, the biggest question surrounding the women’s gymnastics finals is which countries are going to earn the silver and bronze medals.

The US women’s gymnastics team has been dominant since winning Olympic gold in 2012. The women have also come away with the team gold in the World Championships in 2011, 2014 and 2015. The event was not held in 2013, so that’s quite a streak for Team USA.

One of the unfortunate aspects of the women’s finals will be that the three best gymnasts in the world are all on Team USA, and only two gymnasts from each country are permitted to compete in the individual all-around event.

In the qualifying round, Gabby Douglas placed third, behind teammates Simone Biles and Aly Reisman, but Douglas will not be permitted to compete in the individual all-around finals. If she were allowed to compete, a Team USA sweep of the event would be entirely possible.

For the team final, Laurie Hernandez, Aly Raisman and Simone Biles will represent Team USA on the vault. Biles, Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian will compete on the uneven bars, and Biles, Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian will represent the United States on both the balance beam and floor exercise events.

Facing off against Team USA in the team final will be China, Russia, Great Britain, Brazil, Germany, Japan and the Netherlands.
