It’s been an up-and-down offseason for Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins. He started training camp second on the depth chart behind Cameron Brate, following a disastrous spring that saw him get kicked out of OTAs. Seferian-Jenkins seemed to be making his way back into a starting position, but that spot could be up for grabs again.

Seferian-Jenkins was on the field for nearly the entire preseason finale on Wednesday night. We look at the fantasy implications.

Seferian-Jenkins got the start in Wednesday night’s preseason finale against Washington. This is notable by itself, since entrenched starters almost never play in the fourth preseason game, but ASJ played well into the fourth quarter, logging 56 of 70 offensive snaps. His production wasn’t much to speak of — ASJ caught just two of seven targets, finishing with 22 yards.
Fantasy impact: Perhaps it’s yet another motivational ploy by head coach Dirk Koetter, but it has to be concerning that ASJ has been unable to beat out Brate, a complete unknown, on the depth chart.
The Bucs offense has a lot of upside as Jameis Winston enters his second year, and ASJ has the talent to become a true difference-maker in fantasy football. However, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon, making him nothing more than a waiver wire candidate to start the regular season.
