Last December, Pittsburgh Panthers running back James Conner was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. For six months, the junior underwent chemotherapy and, amazingly, announced in May that he was officially cancer-free.

Conner led his team out on the field and scored two touchdowns in his first game following his December diagnosis against Villanova last week. On College GameDay Saturday morning, an inspiring segment aired about Conner’s journey from diagnosis to fighting to become completely cancer-free.

Conner and the Pitt Panthers are taking on Penn State this Saturday from Heinz Field.

In 2014, Conner was named the ACC Player of the Year as well as Offensive Player of the Year by the league’s media and coaches. He rushed for 1,765 yards and 26 touchdowns on 298 carries, and ranked third nationally in rushing touchdowns.

Conner stayed incredibly positive for the past six months while giving cancer the beating of its life. Conner was already planning on playing this upcoming season, and, this video of Conner hauling ass through his first post-treatment practice drill was taken all the way back in February.

Shoutout to College GameDay for putting together an awesome, and powerful feature chronicling his battle with cancer.
