The first week of the 2016 regular season is just about coming to a close, with only two Monday Night Football games remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wire late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.

We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change (via Yahoo!), and news arrives.

The tight end position did not see any monstrous performances through Sunday in Week 1. Rob Gronkowski’s absence was a big reason for that, and Martellus Bennett did not exactly impress in his Patriots debut. But there were several players who stepped up and are owned by only a small percentage of fantasy football owners.

Editor’s update: Ownership percentages increased, but still some bargains to be had.

Waiver wire tight end rankings, Week 2

1. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9 percent owned)

Editor’s update: Now owned by 12 percent of Yahoo! players

Seferian-Jenkins is a guy fantasy owners have waited on for a breakout campaign, and it hasn’t been there. He had one catch for 30 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. This is not a guy to grab for Week 2, but rather for the long haul. He is in a rotation but has a higher ceiling than most options on waivers.

2. Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings (17 percent owned)

Editor’s update: Now owned by 26 percent of Yahoo! players

Rudolph had four receptions for 65 yards but, more importantly, was targeted eight times. He has had his moments in the past, and Teddy Bridgewater’s injury could mean Shaun Hill and/or Sam Bradford might have a new security blanket.

3. Jacob Tamme, Atlanta Falcons (2 percent owned)

Editor’s update: Now owned by 5 percent of Yahoo! players

Another tight end who saw big targets, Tamme finished with six receptions for 51 yards on eight targets. He is not a high-upside starter, but he has value in bye weeks, or if you get crushed by a tight end injury.

4. Clive Walford, Oakland Raiders (19 percent owned)

Editor’s update: Now owned by 16 percent of Yahoo! players

He did not get many opportunities, but Walford is a guy worth a cheap waiver investment now for bigger things as the season moves along. He finished with three receptions for 25 yards on five targets. The Raiders are going to be playing a lot of high-scoring games this year, and his opportunities will come.

5. C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals (0 percent owned)

Editor’s update: Now owned by 4 percent of Yahoo! players

Tyler Eifert is out for the time being and Tyler Kroft was non-existent in Week 1. Uzomah caught two passes for 59 yards, but had five targets. He’s far down the radar, but keep an eye on him.
