Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz (ribs) is expected to have “no shot” to play in the team’s Week 2 meeting with the Chicago Bears, according to Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson told NFL.com’s Nick Shook on Monday that Ertz played most of the team’s season opener with a displaced rib. “Happened in the first quarter on their sideline,” Pederson said, also emphasizing that there was no break or crack in the rib. Ertz played a key role in the season opener for the Eagles. He caught six passes on seven targets for 58 yards, including a one-handed grab to keep the opening drive alive.

Fantasy Impact: Ertz looked to be rookie quarterback Carson Wentz’s safety net in the Eagles’ opener. He will play a big role in the Eagles offense this season despite this minor setback. While Ertz is not much of a touchdown scorer, he will give owners solid numbers, especially in PPR leagues. If out, it makes sense to sit Ertz for Week 2. Keep an eye on Ertz’s status early as he recoups from this displaced rib.
