Fantasy football advice, Week 3: Who to start for Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints

Start ‘em

Fantasy football’s No. 1 quarterback so far this season is Matt Ryan, believe it or not. That credit can be given to a soft schedule out of the gate and his ability to spread the ball around instead of force-feeding Julio Jones. Ryan gets another cushy matchup and remains a top-flight QB1 on the road, and Jones can also be considered a top option at his respective position.

Start ‘em?

The time share between Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman is legitimate, much to the chagrin of Freeman’s fantasy owners. Despite that, Freeman toted the rock 17 times for 93 yards, still giving him standalone value in leagues of all formats. He and Coleman can both be considered flex options in what could be a shootout in The Superdome. Mohamed Sanu and Jacob Tamme can also be considered start-worthy in this game script, but they will be playing second-fiddle to the likes of Jones and Freeman.

Start ‘em

Drew Brees at home against a shoddy secondary is hard to bet against in terms of lighting up the scoreboard, and the veteran signal caller can also be counted on propelling Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead to lofty fantasy heights. All three deserve to be started in formats across the board.

Start ‘em?

The slow start for Mark Ingram is concerning, but his usage still gives him the upside to succeed against a defense that was gashed by the Oakland Raiders’ backfield in Week 2. Ingram remains squarely on the RB2 radar.

Sit ‘em

Until Coby Fleener gets involved, he can be safely stowed away on benches. He is not droppable yet, but he cannot be trusted in lineups. Michael Thomas could very well find the end zone, but needs more usage than his 11 targets in two games to consider starting.
