Tony Romo avoiding injured reserve, fantasy value remains low

The Dallas Cowboys will give Tony Romo the chance to return within the first two months of the regular season.

Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Monday that Romo will not be placed on injured reserve. Had Romo been put there, he would likely get the designation to return after the first eight weeks of the season.

Now, Romo can theoretically return within the first eight weeks, depending on how his back heals. Romo is recovering from a broken bone in his back that was projected to sideline him for around 10 weeks.

Whenever he returns, Romo will become a valuable fantasy quarterback if he stays healthy.

Fantasy Spin: Until Romo has a clear return date in sight, he has almost no value in regular fantasy leagues. He deserves a roster spot in deeper leagues where starting quarterbacks are hard to come by on the waiver wire.

Romo has been a fantasy stud when healthy, so his upside will keep him worth monitoring this year.
