Richard Sherman spoke to the media following Wednesday’s Pro Bowl practice and addressed the possibility of the Seattle Seahawks losing a draft pick due to his unreported MCL injury.
Richard Sherman says it’s ‘foolishness’ for Seahawks to lose draft pick for unreported injury
Sherman thinks the league is too hard on the Seahawks “for no reason.”

”I heard some foolishness like that. That’s just unfortunate,” Sherman said, via ESPN’s James Walker. “I think they kind of are a little too hard on our team for no reason. I think if there’s other teams that kind of just got docked for the same thing, so it’s going to be curious how they treat the other teams.”
The injury came to light following Seattle’s divisional loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Pete Carroll told the media that Sherman had been playing with a “significant” MCL injury and that it had impacted him on and off the field.
Sherman had been listed on the team’s injury report during several weeks of the regular season, but with a non-injury designation. The only time he appeared on the injury report with an injury was Week 12, but it was identified as an ankle injury.
Teams are required by the NFL to accurately report injury information, and it’s possible the Seahawks will be disciplined for a failure to do so in this case. That could include fines or the loss of a draft pick.
“I don’t know if that should be the retribution,” Sherman told ESPN after Wednesday’s Pro Bowl practice. “I don’t know what the course should be. But I think that’s a bit harsh.”
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported that the league could come down more harshly on the Seahawks because of repeated violations. The Seahawks were also hit with league discipline for violating offseason workout rules.
