The Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets played nearly 70 minutes of football before the Jets kicked a field goal in the final minute of overtime to get a 23-20 win.
The 4 dumbest things in the Jets’ 23-20 overtime win over the Jaguars
The Jaguars and Jets were in a battle to make more mistakes down the stretch.

It was also tied at halftime, thanks to a lengthy touchdown drive for the Jaguars to open the game and a wacky touchdown run for Bilal Powell that got the game started on an odd note.
But it was a long series of mistakes for both teams in the fourth quarter that resulted in a game that couldn’t be decided in regulation.
Here’s how the Jets got to 2-2 in one of the silliest games of the year.
1. The Jets ran the ball to a 10-point lead and then stopped
The 75-yard burst for Powell wasn’t the only huge chunk of yardage given up by the usually stout Jaguars defense. On the day, Powell and rookie Elijah McGuire combined for more than 250 yards rushing, and McGuire ran for a 69-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
New York’s consistent rushing attack led to a 20-10 lead, and Jacksonville’s inability to move the ball with anyone other than Leonard Fournette made the lead look insurmountable.
2. The Jets had 2 turnovers to give up the lead
All New York had to do was hand the ball off, and it looked like Jacksonville had nothing left in the tank. Blake Bortles sure as hell wasn’t going to lead them back.
But a lateral by Josh McCown was scooped up by Myles Jack for a 81-yard fumble recovery touchdown, and an interception in the final minutes put the Jaguars on the doorstep of a game-winning touchdown.
McCown finished with 224 yards, but fumbled twice and nearly handed the game to the Jaguars.
3. The Jaguars wouldn’t just run the damn ball
For some reason, Jacksonville can’t completely decide if it wants to commit to Fournette on the ground. At times, the team will lean heavily on the rookie, like it did to get inside the 10 with a little more than a minute remaining.
But then the Jaguars threw three consecutive passes and gained just a couple yards before settling for a chip-shot field goal to send the game to overtime.
Bortles completed just 15 of his 35 passes for 140 yards with a touchdown and an awful interception that was thrown right to a defensive lineman who caught a tipped ball. He continues to be an egregiously bad starting quarterback.
4. A taunting call set the Jets up in field goal range
A punt return put the Jets in good shape to win the game, but it was bolstered even more by a taunting penalty called on linebacker Paul Posluszny who got in the face of a Jets player who threw a block late on the play.
It was a ticky-tack call, at best.
The penalty set up a 41-yard field goal for Chandler Catanzaro, who was the disastrous kicker for the Cardinals during a tie with the Seahawks in 2016. He avenged that game with a kick that went straight down the pipes to give the Jets a win and put both teams at 2-2 in the standings.
