It can’t be easy to call a football game. But it seems like it could be done without making jokes during a Sunday Night Football broadcast about known sexual predators. Unfortunately, that’s what Al Michaels did during the Giants vs. Broncos broadcast.

This was unnecessary.

The Giants did have a rough week. There’s a better way to say it than this.
“I mean, let’s face it,” Michaels says. “The Giants are coming off a worse week than Harvey Weinstein.”
Weinstein has been accused of perpetrating sexual harassment for much of his 30-year career in film production. The New York Times released a detailed report on the allegations against him last week.
Michaels apologized for being “flip” about Weinstein.
“It was not meant in that manner,” Michaels said. “So my apologies, and we’ll just leave it at that.”
New York lost Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall to injuries last week, and Ben McAdoo suspended Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie “indefinitely” after a disagreement about playing time. But it seems like that could be summed up without making light of the Weinstein situation, which is disturbing.
