The open (or possibly open) college football coaching job fantasy draft!

The only truly suitable way to get to the bottom of the silly season.

On the latest episode of Wake Up, College Football, Dan and Richard look at the landscape of schools either looking for or potentially looking for new coaches, and they run through an exercise drafting coaches to programs that appear to be a decent enough fit. With so many coaching options and an ever-increasing list of schools looking for a new coach, they ask:

• Should Florida go after someone familiar like Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen (formerly Urban Meyer’s OC in Gainesville), someone young and running an enormously successful offense like UCF’s Scott Frost, or perhaps the much-coveted Chip Kelly?

• Is Jon Gruden Tennessee’s most realistic option or should the Vols be targeting a big name outside of a potential long shot like Gruden? Neal Brown of Troy? Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State? TCU’s Gary Patterson?

• If Nebraska fires Mike Riley and can’t sell Scott Frost, a noted former Husker player, should it target someone like Iowa State’s Matt Campbell (reported $9m buyout and all) or perhaps a coach running the option, a very familiar offense for fans in Lincoln?

• If Texas A&M and Kevin Sumlin were to part ways, should they look in-state at an up-and-comer like UTSA’s Frank Wilson or SMU’s Chad Morris or bring in a fresh perspective to reboot things for the Aggies?

• Should UCLA and Jim Mora go in different directions, should the Bruins target an offensive mind with experience in Westwood like Syracuse’s Dino Babers, or should they look somewhere a bit closer on the West Coast for a refresh?
