Davante Adams suffered a second scary collision this season after Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis blasted him with a blindside helmet-to-helmet hit Sunday.
Davante Adams thinks Thomas Davis intended to deliver vicious helmet-to-helmet hit
Adams went on Twitter, and expressed how he felt.

The hit left Adams down on the field, before he was ultimately able to get up and walk off under his own power. He would be ruled out with a concussion:
Davis appeared to be visibly upset with himself after the hit:
After the game, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers condemned the hit.
“I think it was an unnecessary hit,” Rodgers said. “He’s a repeat offender, so I’m sure the league will deal with him according to that.”
Adams tweeted his frustration over the hit
On Monday morning, Adams took to Twitter to express his frustrations over the hit, and why he feels players don’t actually mean it when they claim they aren’t trying to harm others.
Adams then touched on how it’s not the first time he’s experienced a jarring hit like that this year:
Adams was hospitalized earlier in the season after taking a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit from Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan. He caught a pass in the middle of the field, and as he was already being tackled, Trevathan came in with the crown of his helmet to the mouth:
Players from both teams were immediately waving towards the sideline for help.
Davis tweeted back at him, apologizing
After seeing Adams’ reaction, Davis also took to Twitter to reply to him, saying that he didn’t mean the hit:
Another Twitter user would tweet a video for the hit with “Keep lying.” Adams retweeted the tweet onto his own timeline.
Washington linebacker Zach Brown defended Davis
Upon seeing Adams’ comments, Brown chimed in, saying players shouldn’t play if they don’t want to get hit or hurt:
After seeing a post on Adams’ comments, he expanded on his thoughts:
After another Twitter user threw in their two cents on player safety being a joke, to which Brown agreed with:
It’s not the first time Davis has delivered a questionable hit
Davis was fined $48,620 for a hit on Buccaneers wide receiver Adam Humphries earlier this year.
He wasn’t happy about that fine, either. He posted a caption on Instagram voicing his displeasure:
“As a 13yr vet that honestly tries to play the game of football the way it’s supposed to be played! I can’t imagine that this freakin’ tackle would cost me $48,620! Not a single part of this play was dirty! I love playing this game but if this was illegal then it’s time for me to retire! #AppealOnDeck”
He will almost certainly be punished for his hit on Adams. Recently, blindside and excessive hits like this one have resulted in one-game suspensions for players like Rob Gronkowski, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
We’ll see during the week just what Davis’ fate is.
