UFC 218: Holloway vs. Aldo 2 will see the UFC Featherweight Championship contested in its main event, as Max Holloway tries to make it two straight against former champion José Aldo.
The pay-per-view event begins with UFC Fight Pass prelims at 6 p.m. ET, and continues with a Fox Sports 1 broadcast at 8 p.m. The main card will get underway at 10 p.m. and can be ordered from the UFC directly or via your cable or satellite provider. Online streaming can be had via Fight Pass, Fox Sports GO, UFC.TV and other outlets, linked near the bottom of this article.
Also is trying to get revenge on Holloway, who beat him in the featherweight unification bout in June. Holloway won that first fight by TKO in the third round, while Aldo was coming off a win over Frankie Edgar at the time. Holloway and Edgar were supposed to fight, but Aldo had to replace the latter due to injury.
Holloway is 18-3 as a professional and hasn’t tasted defeat since August 2013 when he lost to Conor McGregor. He’s still trying to get past the shadow of McGregor, which still looms over the featherweight division.
Aldo has been knocked out twice in three fights, with the decision over Edgar between them. Prior to those two losses, he hadn’t lost since November 2005.
In the co-feature, heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou will face each other. Overeem is coming off two consecutive wins, the last a big decision win over Fabricio Werdum. Ngannou is inexperienced, but has beaten both Anthony Hamilton and Andrei Arlovski in the UFC, the latter via knockout his last time out.
Henry Cejudo, fresh off a huge knockout win over Wilson Reis at UFC 215, will take on fellow flyweight Sergio Pettis in his next outing. Prior to his win over Reis, Cejudo lost a split decision to Joseph Benavidez after he had a point taken away in the first round due to low blows. And even before that, Cejudo was challenging Demetrious Johnson for the UFC Flyweight Championship, a bout that resulted in his first career loss.
Pettis has put together a pretty decent winning streak, besting the likes of Chris Cariaso, Chris Kelades, John Moraga and Brandon Moreno in his last four bouts.
