The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors battled in three consecutive NBA Finals. Now on Christmas Day, the two teams will renew their rivalry at 3 p.m. ET on ABC (live stream). This is the third straight season the teams will meet on Christmas, which hasn’t been done since the Lakers-Heat met 2004-06.

Cleveland (24-9) got off to an uncharacteristic 3-5 start this season but quickly turned its play around. Led by LeBron James, the Cavaliers’ ability to knockdown 38.3 percent of their 3-point shots led to an expected resurgence. The Cavaliers also average more than 110 points per contest.

Golden State (26-7), on the other hand, jumped out to a fast start at the beginning of the season. Led by Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson — the Warriors continued to dominate by connecting on a league-high (%) of their attempts from downtown. However, an ankle injury will keep Curry on the sidelines for this game — so look for Durant and Thompson to shoulder the scoring load.

Cavs vs. Warriors News

Isaiah Thomas was as surprised as anyone when he was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers late in August.

“That’s just crazy,” Thomas said in a Players’ Tribune video, emotional after Celtics general manager Danny Ainge broke the news that he’d been dealt for Kyrie Irving. “What are you talkin’ about? My kids are about to start school ... Off the strength, after everything I went through ... You’re not supposed to do that.

LeBron James doesn’t have many ‘firsts’ remaining in his 15-year career, but he knocked one more thing off his list for the first time on Thursday. James had never worn a microphone during a game until the Cavaliers played the surging Chicago Bulls Thursday.

We’re so glad he finally did it.

Cavs vs. Warriors prediction

This game will come down to the fourth quarter, but the Warriors will find a way to knock off the Cavaliers.
