Tom Brady’s missing jersey is now being compared to priceless artwork

Tom Brady’s jersey from Super Bowl LI still hasn’t been found, and the Patriots aren’t ready to let go of it just yet, but it’s reaching ridiculous levels now. Patriots owner Robert Kraft made a pretty strong comparison between Brady’s jersey and great works of art.

“It’s very sad to me that someone would do something like this. It’s like taking a great Chagall or Picasso or something. You can never display it. And somehow, I feel there’ll be some news that’ll clear this up in the not-too-distant future,” Kraft told Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo.

Hopefully they track down the jersey so it can wind up in its rightful place in the Louvre.

Kraft remains confident that the jersey will show up. “I hope it’ll be cleared up soon,” Kraft said. “I think that a lot of people spend a lot of time looking into the matter and what happened, and I’d rather not say anything that would cause any problems in the work that’s been done. One way or another, that jersey will be back.”

Brady was on PFT Live this week, and didn’t sound quite as optimistic as Kraft. “I know I have to talk to somebody this week in regards to them trying to find it,” Brady said. “But if they don’t, they don’t. It’s just a nice something to have, and we’ll see if it comes up.”

Fox Business also reached out to the FBI’s office in Boston, where they didn’t get much more information. “In keeping with DOJ policy, we can’t confirm or deny the existence of an investigation,” the FBI Boston representative told Fox Business.

The day after the Super Bowl, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said that he asked the Texas Rangers to help find Tom Brady’s jersey. While Patrick was set on having the jersey found, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo wasn’t as concerned.

“It might be the highest priority for [the] lieutenant governor,” Acevedo said. “I can tell you we had three homicides the night of the Super Bowl in the city of Houston, and we’d like to find it, but I don’t think we’re burning the midnight oil worrying about a jersey.”

There was also a report that the team’s equipment truck hadn’t been thoroughly searched, and that it would be unloaded last Thursday. Since today is Tuesday, it’s probably safe to assume that the jersey didn’t turn up there.
