Malcolm Butler has had quite the rise to fame since he famously picked off Russell Wilson in Super Bowl XLIX and ripped the hearts out of the chests of Seahawks fans across the country.
Malcolm Butler’s life story to be made into biopic called ‘The Secondary’
This should make for a great film.

But his journey is more than an interception, and that’s why his life rights have been acquired by Daniel Levin’s Narrative Capital, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Butler’s story is going to become a biopic called The Secondary.
Levin has a good track record when it comes to real-life subjects. Narrative Capital’s latest production, Lion, is up for six Oscars this year, including Best Picture. The film is about Saroo Brierley, who was separated from his mother at age 5 before being reunited with her 25 years later.
Butler was running the fryolator at a Popeyes chicken restaurant when his agent got him a tryout with the Patriots. Not only did Butler make one of the most remarkable and memorable plays in Super Bowl history, he did so as a rookie.
But the film won’t just be about Butler. His agent, Derek Simpson, was a small-town lawyer who helped Butler while also fighting a commercial-trucking goliath in court to get justice for a paralyzed teen, according to THR.
No distributor has been attached to the film, nor has a release date or cast been worked out yet, but certainly that will all iron itself out for Butler’s inspiring path from a Popeyes worker to a two-time Super Bowl winner.
