Kentucky Derby payouts 2017: Always Dreaming takes home $1.425 million

Always Dreaming captured the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday at Churchill Downs, comfortably ahead of Looking At Lee for the win.

The Kentucky Derby has a guaranteed purse of at least $2 million, with Always Dreaming receiving $1.425 million for the win.

Pre-race odds had Always Dreaming at 9-2 odds, the pre-race co-favorite, and jockey John Velazquez delivered for his second career Kentucky Derby win, having also ridden Animal Kingdom to victory in 2011.

This was the second career Run for the Roses victory for trainer Todd Pletcher. He also trained Super Saver in 2010.

With long shots Lookin At Lee (33-1) and Battle of Midway (40-1) finishing second and third, there were some hefty payouts at the windows on Saturday. Here are the individual betting payouts from Churchill Downs.

The $2.00 exacta paid $336.20, the $1.00 trifecta paid $8,297.20, and the $1.00 superfecta paid a whopping $75,974.50.
