The 149th edition of the Belmont Stakes will take place later today at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. You can watch the annual race on NBC. Live television coverage starts at 3 p.m. on NBCSN. The pre-race coverage begins at 5 p.m. on NBC, and the post time is at 6:37 p.m. on NBC. Viewers can livestream the big race on NBCSports.com/live.

Horse racing fans are in for a treat, as 12 thoroughbreds will compete for the Belmont Stakes championship. Unfortunately, Classic Empire, the favorite to win the race, was pulled from the competition because of a hoof abscess.

However, other horses like Patch, and Lookin at Lee will compete in this year’s race. Epicharis, a Japanese horse, has just been scratched. Lookin at Lee, the runner-up in this year’s Kentucky Derby, will race out of the sixth gate. And Patch, a one-eyed horse, will begin outside gate 12.
