Belmont Stakes 2017: Live stream for the post position draw

Star power is down from the first two races of the Triple Crown, but the field looks good for a fun race.

The 149th running of the Belmont Stakes will be held Saturday in New York. With no Triple Crown implications on the line and neither the Preakness Stakes nor Kentucky Derby winners present, you might be tempted to think the Belmont lacks for plots. However, a large and even field indicates you would be wrong.

They’ll draw the post positions for the $1.5 million, 1-1/2 mile Belmont Stakes somewhere after noon (ET) on Wednesday. The Belmont is actually the third race being drawn, and noon is just an approximate start from Rockefeller Center in New York, so it’s hard to give too exact of a time. Be sure to follow along with a live stream provided at NYRA.com

Classic Empire is the Belmont favorite among the 12-horse field — or 13 if Gormley runs — ahead of the official morning line announcement at 2/1, according to OddsShark. The best 2-year-old, he has struggled to live up to that acclaim in his 3-year-old season. He entered the Kentucky Derby the favorite, but a tough start led to a fourth-place finish. The Preakness, with a smaller field, played out a little closer to expectations. But after entering with strong odds of winning, he finished second.

Behind that, Lookin At Lee, who finished second in the Kentucky Derby, is set at co-5/1 odds along with Epicharis, Japanese winner of four straight before finishing second in the UAE Derby.
