Cam Newton’s lifestyle sneaker debut pays homage to his hometown of Atlanta

TRUUUUUUUU!

Cam Newton’s known as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but he’s also the fashion icon of the league. His latest signature sneakers prove that, with a hometown twist.

The newest shoe in his signature “C1N” collection is a lifestyle sneaker that pays homage to the city of Atlanta, where he was born and raised. They’re appropriately named “Hometown.”

Under Armour released a video in which Newton explains the impact Atlanta has had on him:

Newton talks about how Atlanta has affected the way he thinks, dresses, acts, his swagger on and off the field, and a trail blazing mentality.

“There’s something different about a person from Atlanta,” he says. “You already know about the swag that person represents.”

As an Atlanta native myself, I can confidently say he ain’t wrong.

Atlanta’s own 2 Chainz’s (formerly known as Tity Boi) “It’s A Vibe” is playing in the background of the video. Cam is understandably a fan of one of the city’s most prominent rappers — but he also loves him some Waffle House. Because this is what we do.

The sneakers are fittingly red. Many of the sports teams in and around the city don the color. The Falcons, Hawks, Braves, and University of Georgia rock some red, so it was only right.

We can’t have sneakers dedicated to Atlanta in some Carolina blue.

The sneaker will be sold on UA.com and select retailers. You can shell out $120 if you’re feeling inspired enough by Newton’s Atlanta roots — or if you just like red kicks.
