The American team of Nick Lucena and Phil Dalhausser have won the men’s World Series of Beach Volleyball President’s Cup. They made it past the Canadian team of Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter in the finals after a bracket pit the best teams from the USA against one another, with the ultimate winner taking on the winner from the international bracket.

Lucena and Dalhausser won in straight sets, 21-18, 21-15.

The losers of the semifinals played one another in the bronze medal match. In that match, the international team, Poland, won, taking down the American team of Theo Brunner and Casey Patterson in three sets.

Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak were the men of the Polish team, taking home the 20-22, 21-15, 15-13 victory. Kantor and Losiak lost to Pedlow and Schachter in the semifinals in three sets, 21-16, 15-21, 11-15. Brunner and Patterson lost to Lucena and Dalhausser in straight sets, 11-21, 19-21.

The women’s beach volleyball winner was decided on Saturday, when the Brazilian team of Talita Da Rocha Antunes and Larissa Franca beat Americans April Ross and Lauren Fendrick.

Ross was previously teamed up with Kerri Walsh Jennings for a number of years, and the duo was one of the best in the world. But they split in May and in their first tournament on opposite sides since the split, Ross’s team won out. They beat Walsh Jennings and Nicole Branagh, and then went on to the finals where they were unable to pull off the victory.
