Broner vs. Garcia results: Full analysis, reaction and winners for fight card
Adrien Broner and Mikey Garcia fought 12 excellent rounds on Saturday, and we have full results and analysis from the card.

When Broner was more aggressive, he was winning rounds. But Garcia threw far more shots overall and controlled the action most of the time. He took a unanimous decision win, 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 on the judges’ scorecards.
Broner controlled the action early in the first round, and likely took it with effective punching from range. Garcia started to be more aggressive in the second and third, however, and he got Broner backing up against the ropes big time, one of the biggest complaints of Broner’s game.
But Broner did come back, and managed to perform better in Round 4. Broner managed to get to the center of the ring and he landed the left jab frequently, not allowing Garcia to back him up. It was his best round early on for sure.
Garcia managed to take control from there, though, and arguably took the next four rounds. Broner was getting some flack from his corner. They wanted him to be more active and aggressive, and he came out doing as much in the ninth round. It was a close round, but one where Broner largely followed the advice of his corner.
It was more of the same in the 10th, with Broner landing the aggressive shots with his combos. He connected with a big left and then a right, and Garcia absorbed some serious damage.
Jermall Charlo made short work of Jorge Sebastian Heiland in his middleweight debut on Saturday. Charlo, making the change in weight to compete in a deeper and more lucrative division, dominated Heiland from start to finish, culminating in a fourth-round TKO victory.
Charlo scored multiple knockdowns and may have earned a couple 10-8 rounds with the battering of Heiland. It was an impressive debut, but one that he was expected to win.
Going into Saturday’s fight, Broner was 33-2 with 2 knockouts. His two losses were via decision, to Marcos Maidana in December 2013 and Shawn Porter in June 2015. The loss to Porter set Broner back big time. He rattled off three consecutive wins after it, but they were all against questionable competition.
Broner was no longer seen among boxing’s elite, and the fight with Garcia was viewed as his last chance to change that. Garcia went into the fight with a 36-0 record, with 30 wins via knockout. He was set to take the next step to fight elite competition, and that came in the form of Broner.
Obviously, the fight was hugely important for both contenders. Garcia was heavily favored going into the bout, with many believing he would take the win if he could avoid getting into a slugfest, the kind of match that Broner typically prefers.
The featured SHOWTIME Sports fights that were live streamed began with a women’s lightweight contest between Irish champion Katie Taylor and Jasmine Clarkson. Taylor, fighting in the United States for the first time, became the first woman to stop Clarkson in the ring, notching a third-round knockout.
In the second fight, Jarrell Miller backed up months of trash talk with a dominant eight-round clinic on Gerald Washington. Miller, a heavyweight, took an eighth-round TKO when Washington’s corner decided he’d taken enough damage in the fight.
