Raiders cornerback Sean Smith was arrested Thursday for an alleged altercation on July 4, according to USA Today. The cornerback is facing felony assault charges.
Raiders’ Sean Smith arrested and charged with felony assault on sister’s boyfriend
The Raiders cornerback could face seven years in prison if convicted.


Per USA Today, the prosecutor alleges that Smith “beat and then stomped” the head of his sister’s boyfriend and that his actions “inflicted great bodily injury” upon the victim.
Smith was taken into custody at 2 p.m. local time on Thursday, according to USA Today. His bail is $80,000, with a first court date set for Sept. 29. The maximum sentence Smith faces is seven years of prison.
Smith is entering his second year with the Raiders, after spending the first four years of his career in Miami with the Dolphins, and the next three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Raiders have yet to release a statement on Smith’s arrest.
