The championship games are set on both the United States and international sides of the bracket at the 2017 Little League World Series, with kids from Reynosa, Mexico and Lufkin, Texas earning spots in the game with wins on Thursday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Mexico broke open a tie game late with a pair of home runs, hit by Jorge Garcia and Jorge Lambarria, beating Canada 6-2 on Thursday afternoon at Lamade Stadium. Mexico improved to 4-1 in the Little League World Series, and has been stingy on the mound, outscoring opponents 29-6 in the tournament.
Mexico moves on to face Tokyo, Japan on Saturday afternoon for the international championship. Japan is undefeated so far in the tournament, winning its three games by a combined score of 22-1.
On the U.S. side, Texas jumped all over Fairfield, Connecticut with an eight-run first inning on its way to a 14-4 win that took only five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Texas will advance to play undefeated North Carolina in the U.S. championship game on Saturday.
