Robert Griffin III is still looking for work this NFL season. He had plenty of time during the offseason to work on himself and his game, and it appears he might have taken a liking to Carmelo Anthony. Specifically, “Hoodie Melo.”
Robert Griffin III shows off basketball skills by doing his best ‘Hoodie Melo’ impression
It’s time for “Hoodie RGIII.”

Griffin posted a video on his Instagram of him playing basketball, and making every shot, in a hoodie — just like Hoodie Melo.
It also appears RGIII is a Niall Horan fan, based on the caption.
You might be asking yourself what the difference is between Carmelo Anthony and Hoodie Melo. This is where I let my esteemed colleague, Whitney Medworth, explain:
The 2017 summer has turned into a showcase of offseason workouts of NBA players on Twitter and Instagram, but maybe the most important trend to emerge has been Carmelo Anthony’s alter ego: Hoodie Melo. Hoodie Melo was created after fans began to see him constantly wearing a hoodie while working out, mostly with Chris Brickley. Brickley has become the go-to workout guru for many NBA athletes including Anthony, Kevin Durant, and C.J. McCollum.
Hoodie Melo works out at 2 a.m. Hoodie Melo doesn’t miss. Hoodie Melo makes LeBron James look like a mere mortal.
It was with Brickley that Hoodie Melo began to make his debut. There is a large number of Hoodie Melo appearances on Brickley’s Instagram dating back to May of 2017.
Basically, it looks like RGIII is also trying to find some magic in the hoodie.
Griffin didn’t quite pan out in Cleveland last season. He still faced injuries, which go back to his days in Washington. Though he may not have a home now and interest in him is at an all-time low, there’s still a chance he’s in the NFL in 2017. He worked out with the Chargers this offseason, so the interest in him isn’t exactly zero.
If you’re going to have a role model, Hoodie Melo is a good one.
