The aftermath of Hurricane Harvey has affected many in the Texas area. (You can still help). Athletes throughout the country have pitched in to raise relief efforts and help out.
The Cougars and Owls shared a pregame moment before their first game in Houston in 2017
Hurricane Harvey meant both of these Houston teams had to spend time away from the city.

Some notable Houston athletic figures that have taken action are Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, and Kelvin Sampson, head coach of the Houston men’s basketball team.
The Houston Cougars and Rice Owls expressed their solidarity for the victims of Harvey by meeting in the middle of the field and shaking hands before the game started.
It’s good to have both teams home, as the Cougars had to practice at the University of Texas because of the Hurricane. Rice had to practice at TCU.
In addition to the handshake, Rice is sporting a special helmet to show support for those affected by the hurricane.
Life is bigger than football.
