The Rams and 49ers played what’s going to be one of the best NFL games we see all season on Thursday night. Unfortunately for the 49ers, they may have gotten the short end of the stick on officiating at the end of the game.
49ers’ potential game-winning drive vs. Rams stalled by questionable pass interference call
Tough break for the 49ers in what was otherwise an amazing game.

After recovering an incredibly well-executed onside kick, the 49ers had the ball down 41-39 with just over two minutes to go. After the two-minute warning, they were faced with a third-and-10 from the 50.
Hoyer hit rookie Trent Taylor with an 11-yard pass, but he was called for an offensive pass interference. It didn’t look like a whole lot:
Instead of a first down and having the ball on the Rams’ 39, they faced a third-and-20. Hoyer then threw an incomplete pass and took a sack on fourth down.
That turned out being a big play. The 49ers would’ve been close to a first down and nearly in field-goal range had Taylor’s reception held up. Down two, all the 49ers needed to play for was a field goal.
Instead, they had a third-and-long and much lower odds to complete the comeback.
