Tennessee didn’t just lose to Georgia, the team was completely dominated in a 41-0 loss Saturday. There’s a chance it was Butch Jones’ last game as the head coach of the Volunteers, and fans in Knoxville didn’t have much better to do than fight in the stands and loudly voice their disapproval.
Georgia just gave Tennessee its worst Knoxville loss in 112 years
Tennessee lost to Vanderbilt 45-0 in 1905, so at least it wasn’t the Volunteers’ worst home loss ever. Hooray Vols.

It’s hard to blame them considering it was the worst home loss for Tennessee since 1905.
That 1905 season started strong for the Volunteers with a 16-6 win over the Tennessee School for the Deaf and a 104-0 demolition of American Temperance University. But after a 5-5 tie with Clemson, Tennessee lost 45-0 to Vanderbilt at home.
That’s the second worst home loss after a 56-0 defeat at the hands of Kentucky in 1893.
For more than a century, Tennessee avoided getting embarrassed at home by more than 40 points, but Saturday cracked open the history books. Quarterback Quinten Dormady completed just five of his 16 passes for 64 yards and two interceptions. Backup Jarrett Guarantano didn’t fare much better with only 16 yards on seven attempts.
It was the first time Tennessee has been shut out in a loss since a 31-0 loss to Florida in 1994.
Tennessee has a week off on the way and will get another chance to score at home in two weeks when the team hosts South Carolina. It’s hard to imagine things going any worse than they did Saturday against Georgia any time soon.
