Cam Newton said in front of reporters on Tuesday afternoon that he believes Colin Kaepernick is better than some quarterbacks starting in the NFL and should be on an NFL roster.
Cam Newton says it’s ‘unfair’ Colin Kaepernick is not in the NFL
Newton says that Kaepernick is better than other quarterbacks holding starting jobs going into the 2017 season.

“I really think it’s unfair. I think it’s unfair,” Newton said. “In my opinion do I think Kaepernick is better than some of these starting quarterbacks in this league? Absolutely.”
“Should he be on a roster? In my opinion, absolutely,” he said. “There’s no question about it. Is he good enough to be on a roster? Is he good enough to be a starting quarterback? Absolutely.”
He finished with, “But our main focus right now is trying to beat the 49ers on Sunday.”
Newton has seen firsthand what Kaepernick is capable of. In his third NFL season, Newton and the Panthers lost to Kaepernick and the 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round.
Kaepernick’s national anthem protest began last August and created a wave of others who followed in his footsteps. Since opting out of his contract with the 49ers in March, no team has taken a serious look at Kaepernick.
More NFL players have spoken up in support of Kaepernick as the season approaches. Von Miller, Aaron Rodgers, and Anquan Boldin all have voiced their support of Kaepernick in the past week.
