We’re already one-quarter of the way through the NFL season and many of last year’s bottom feeder teams are leading their divisions heading into Week 5. The Dolphins lead the AFC East, though the Patriots are picking up steam. The Bears have looked dominant in the NFC North (Mitchell Trubisky just had a six touchdown game!), ranking first in the division while the Packers and Vikings have had slower starts than expected. Who thought Patrick Mahomes would be a leading MVP candidate before the season began? Now, he’s looking dominant and the Chiefs are 4-0 heading into a game against the 3-1 Jaguars at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City is in first place in the AFC West while Jacksonville is trailing the also 3-1 Titans in the AFC South after a loss to Tennessee.
The Jaguars defense vs. the Chiefs offense headlines Week 5 in the NFL
Jalen Ramsey going up against Tyreek Hill? Yes, please!

Here are the five NFL games we’ll be paying closest attention to this afternoon, including one matchup of division leaders, two games pitting division rivals against one another, and two games featuring playoff teams from last year, one of which has already featured quite a bit of trash talk heading into the weekend.
Jaguars at Chiefs (1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)
Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey made his thoughts clear on Chiefs wide receiver and return man Tyreek Hill.
”I don’t like how whoever has made it a matchup—me against Tyreek,” Ramsey said. “He’s good for what he does for their team. He made All-Pro, as a return specialist—let’s get that right—as a return specialist his rookie year. He went to two Pro Bowls as a return specialist. Return specialist. Two years. I made All-Pro in my position as a corner. Went to the Pro Bowl as a corner, so it’s not a wide receiver vs. corner matchup. So we can get out of the way off the bat.”
To be clear, Hill has 23 catches for 364 yards and three touchdowns through four weeks. He’s most certainly not just a specialist. This matchup should be one of Sunday’s best. We’ll see who has the last word and whether the Chiefs can remain undefeated.
Vikings at Eagles (4:25 p.m. ET Fox)
The 1-2-1 Vikings could badly use a win while the 2-2 Eagles are coming off a frustrating overtime loss to the Titans. Despite their record, the Vikings have looked impressive. Wide receiver Adam Thielen is off to a record-breaking start, recording 40 receptions (second in the NFL) for 473 yards (also second in the NFL), both setting new franchise marks for the most catches and yards through the first four weeks of a season. The Vikings defense has held opponents to a 31.1 percent-third down conversion rate, the fifth lowest in the NFL. They’ll look to slow down Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz who has won each of his last nine home starts at Lincoln Financial Field. Watch for Wentz to heavily utilize tight end Zach Ertz who leads all NFL tight ends with 31 receptions. This is a game that both teams badly want to win. Heading into the game, FiveThirtyEight is giving the Eagles a 69 percent chance of making the playoffs while the Vikings have just a 34 percent chance. They’re also giving the Eagles a 70 percent chance to win today.
Packers at Lions (1:00 p.m. ET, Fox)
The Packers are banged up, having ruled out wide receiver Randall Cobb while both Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison are questionable (though, Adams is expected to play). Also questionable are cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Breshaud Breeland as well as safeties Kentrell Brice and Jermaine Whitehead. The Lions have quite a few injured players, too. Ezekiel Ansah will miss another game with his shoulder injury while guard T.J. Lang is still recovering from a concussion and tight end Michael Roberts is out with a knee injury. A slew of other Lions including defensive back Quandre Diggs and linebacker Eli Harold are questionable. Like Adams, Lions receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is listed as questionable on the injury report, but is expected to play. This is an important division game for two teams looking to make up ground. The Packers are one point favorites on the road and things could get interesting in Detroit this afternoon. One thing fans in Green Bay should be excited about is that Aaron Rodgers was officially removed from the injury list after battling through a knee injury since Week 1.
The Ravens’ No. 2 defense faces off against a Browns offense that’s scoring 25.5 points per game, ranking 11th in the league. That number for the Browns is actually tied with the Steelers, who the Ravens beat with relative ease just last week. After this game, the currently 3-1 Ravens will have played each of their AFC North rivals once. The 1-2-1 Browns are hoping to hand the Ravens their second loss of the season and to notch a win for the second-straight game in Cleveland. Baker Mayfield is excited for his first AFC North clash and it sounds like Ravens defensive coordinator Don Martindale is a bit nervous about it. “I think Baker Mayfield is this generation’s Brett Favre or John Elway if you will,” he said this week. Also look for the Ravens’ offense to get a boost as first round rookie tight end Hayden Hurst makes his NFL debut.
Dolphins at Bengals (1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)
This is a matchup between two current division leaders and somewhat surprisingly 3-1 teams. Andy Dalton and the Bengals have been clicking on all cylinders on offense, scoring 34 or more points in all three of their wins. The Dolphins haven’t scored more than 28 points in a game this season and scored just seven last week against the Patriots. As long as the Cincinnati defense can get after Ryan Tannehill and limit the Dolphins’ effectiveness on offense, Dalton should be able to lead the Bengals to victory. Bengals running back Joe Mixon returns for this game, but Giovani Bernard is out while dealing with an MCL injury and wide receiver John Ross is out with a groin injury. This, in addition to the Bengals placing tight end Tyler Eifert on Injured Reserve. Vontaze Burfict will return to the field on Sunday for his first game back following a four-game PED suspension. If the Dolphins win, it will likely be because Kenyan Drake gets cooking.
