West Virginia pulled off a 42-41 victory over Texas in the final seconds of the game after Will Grier threw the tying touchdown, and then ran in for the game-winning two-point conversion.
Will Grier was flagged for the absolute perfect celebration while beating Texas
He was penalized for it, but it didn’t matter.

Here’s the conversion by Grier, who was penalized for his celebration afterward, when he threw up the notorious Horns Down in triumph:
Whenever somebody does something good against Texas, taking the Hook’em Horns hand signal and throwing it upside down is the easy route for taunting. It’s been done for years, and usually not penalized.
However, the Mountaineers were called for the penalty twice on Saturday. The first came in the first quarter:
And of course, the second being Grier’s. West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen said after the game that he wasn’t expecting those calls to be made:
Luckily for West Virginia, it didn’t cost them the game, but it’s certainly odd that it seems only since last year that it’s been called under the NCAA’s “unsportsmanlike acts” which doesn’t exactly hold up if you look at the rules.
But for now, it seems when the horns go down, the penalty flags go up. Doesn’t matter when you win, though!
