Things didn’t quite work out the way Mikaela Shiffrin had hoped during the women’s slalom event on Thursday, resulting in a fourth-place finish, but another American woman will hit the slopes on Friday at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. “Speed Queen” Lindsey Vonn will be competing in hopes of becoming the oldest woman (at 33 years old) to win an Olympic alpine medal.

Shiffrin was originally planning to compete in Friday’s women’s alpine super-g event, but with the schedule changes of the slalom and giant slalom earlier in the week due to wind, she didn’t have as much recovery time to prepare for one of her five events. Now, it’ll be up to Vonn to make up for the medal she missed in 2014 due to a knee injury.

Before the women hit the slopes though, the men’s figure skating free skate will get underway. Combined with the scores from the short program on Thursday, the medal podium might be a bit out of reach for the American competitors. Dubbed the “Prince of the Olympics” during the broadcast, Adam Rippon had the best performance for Team USA, finishing No. 7 with an 87.95 score. The youngest member (of any sport) for the United States, Vincent Zhou, placed No. 12 (84.53) and Nathan Chen, suffering several falls, finished No. 17 (82.27). The top of the men’s leaderboard includes Yuzuru Hanyu (Japan), Javier Fernandez (Spain), and Shoma Uno (Japan).

For the late-night crowd, Friday’s Olympic action will finish off with the women’s freeski slopestyle event. The United States will have a good chance to snag a medal, with reigning silver medalist Devin Logan returning to the event, along with Maggie Voisin, who qualified for the Sochi Games but had an ankle injury that kept her sidelined.

You can find live streaming of all events at NBC’s Olympics site.

Which Winter Olympic medals are up for grabs today?

Team USA didn’t claim any additional medals on Thursday, with Mikaela Shiffrin (women’s skiing slalom) and Lindsey Jacobellis (women’s snowboard cross) both finishing just shy of the medal podium, in fourth place. That keeps them at No. 5 among medal-winning countries, but are now tied with Austria and the Olympic Athletes from Russia at eight total medals.

The United States is in position to add some hardware on Friday, though, with Adam Rippon continuing his quest for figure skating gold with the men’s free skate program (8 p.m. ET) and Lindsey Vonn hitting the slops for the women’s alpine skiing super-g medal (9 p.m. ET). The final event of the night could also result in a medal for an American, with Team USA sending a strong delegation to compete in the women’s freeski slopestyle event (11 p.m. ET).
