The Sacramento Kings’ less hyped rookie is the one who stole the show on Friday, taking over the NBA All-Star Rising Stars Challenge with seven triples and an MVP at the end of the night. If there’s any concerns that the excellent rookie had flown under the radar, then Friday probably dispelled that.
NBA All-Star Friday: The Kings’ underrated rookie shines in Rising Stars game, and 8 more things
Everything you should know about the Sacramento rookie’s MVP win and the celebrity game.

You should know by now if you don’t: Bogdan Bogdanovic is a Kings rookie who has finally come to the league after being drafted in 2014 by Phoenix. He’s not related to Bojan Bogdanovic — it’s a common Serbian last name, come on. He’s averaging almost 12 points and he’s hitting 40 percent while taking four triples per game, all while tossing a little more than three assists per game, too.
On Friday, he wouldn’t stop hitting threes. He tallied seven of them, ending up with 26 points in the glorified scrimmage that the Rising Stars Challenge really is. That included this absolute bomb.
Shut up, Frankie Smokes. I’m not here this.
This is Bogdan’s first MVP. He might be winning them all now.
The youths are good
Nothing about the Rising Stars Challenge really matters, but just the mere assortment of talent that was present on Friday is a good reminder that the NBA just keeps headed in a great direction.
The celebrities are less good
Look, I don’t know what you want! There are famous people who play basketball, and the other famous people don’t play basketball for a reason. Last year’s MVP was Brandon Armstrong, and other former MVPs like Win Butler and Justin Bieber were represented, too. The game finished with Team Clippers pulling away late.
The standout and MVP was Quavo, the most recognizable member of the rap group Migos. SB Nation has explored Quavo’s athletic history in the past and he’s a true star, so this shouldn’t be a huge surprise. He finished with 19 points, shot 7-of-10 from the floor, and notched four rebounds and three assists for good measure.
His block on Rachel DeMita was just rude
DeMita is a former scholarship Division-I athlete and played quite well on Friday, scoring 17 points. But even though this specific play was called a shooting foul, we have doubts.
The Rising Star Challenge’s best moment

Here’s a dunk contest preview
Donovan Mitchell threw down a simple-but-smooth jam off glass.
Then Dennis Smith tried something absurd. He missed, but what the entire fresh hell is that?
