Tiger Woods ignites Valspar Championship crowd with hole-out from off the green

Tiger is on a heater again Saturday in Tampa and he’s back at the top of the leaderboard.

Tiger Woods has moved into a share of the lead on Saturday at the Valspar Championship, and he’s doing it with some of the finest vintage Tiger stuff.

Woods has the Tampa-area crowd losing it on Saturday, cresting at the turn with back-to-back birdies on the 9th and 10th holes. The first came on a hole-out chip shot from off the green. This brought Tiger to within a shot of Corey Conners, who is not exactly backing down and really pushing the pace playing in the final pairing.

That’s the signature moment of this absurd, outrageous comeback. The comeback that finally makes the “Tiger is back” joke seem like the new reality.

Tiger is backing up his first two rounds with an absolute shotmaking display in the third. He’s working the ball both ways, hitting bombs off the tee, and executing the delicate stuff around the green to perfection. With the crowd still trying to come down from the hole-out, Tiger went to the next tee and hit one of those stingers that gets your heart racing.

That is erotic.

Up on the green, Tiger converted a birdie putt that again sent the crowd into hysterics and put him on a share of the lead with Conners.

We’ve got eight more holes to play but everything we’ve seen in this third round is an affirmation of the past month in Florida. Tiger is so back and is going to be a threat at the Masters.
