Of course the first game of the season won’t start on time. The Eagles vs. Falcons opener could be delayed due to severe weather in Philadelphia.
NFL season opener for Eagles vs. Falcons delayed 45 minutes due to severe weather
Football’s opening night didn’t start on time. Of course.

Kickoff was supposed to be at 8:20 p.m. ET. And then 8:55 p.m.
Now, the Eagles have made it official with a 9:05 kickoff. The game was delayed for 45 minutes, for all you math folks out there.
At Lincoln Financial Field, fans were asked to take cover:
There was lightning caught on camera, as well.
And here are some shots of the (very wet) crowd from the broadcast:
We are all this guy:
The delay didn’t stop the Falcons’ social media team from having a little fun, either:
Here’s the NFL’s rule on weather delays:
If, in the Commissioner’s opinion, it is reasonable to project that the resumption of an interrupted game would not change its ultimate result or adversely affect any other inter-team competitive issue, he is empowered to terminate the game.
We’ve already seen weather delays in college football this season. Ohio State vs Oregon State and Texas vs Maryland were hit with delays this past weekend. The game between Nebraska and Akron was canceled all together.
The game tonight won’t be canceled, but we did see the NFL postpone the week one matchup between the Bucs and the Dolphins last year due to a hurricane.
