The transfer portal for women’s college basketball officially opened on March 25, essentially starting the sport’s free agency season.

Last offseason, several teams picked up key players in the portal that helped their teams advance to the Sweet 16 of this year’s NCAA Tournament. Notable moves included Hailey Van Lith going from LSU to TCU, Kiki Iriafen joining USC from Stanford, Oklahoma picking up Raegan Beers from Oregon State, Liatu King leaving Pitt for Notre Dame, and UConn landing Kaitlyn Chen from Princeton.

The moves made during this offseason could impact the teams we see make deep runs in next year’s March Madness tournament. Three of the last five Most Outstanding Players at the Final Four transferred at least once in their careers.

As players enter the portal, we’ll update this list where we rank the best ones looking for a change of scenery.

Last updated: May 21, 3:15 p.m. ET

Miles is forgoing the opportunity to enter the WNBA Draft and will return to college for an extra season. Multiple sources confirmed to SB Nation that she entered the portal as a graduate transfer. Miles had arguably the best statistical season of her career, averaging a career-high 15.4 points per game while shooting a career-best 40.6 percent from 3-point land. She also averaged 5.8 assists per game, which was 15th nationally. She’s a dynamic point guard and would have likely been a top five pick in the WNBA Draft in April.

2. Ta’Niya Latson, Florida State

The versatile forward averaged 16.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season and also drastically improved her 3-point shooting, connecting on 38 percent of her looks from deep after making just 23 percent last year. A year ago, she was also a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award.

4. MiLaysia Fulwiley, South Carolina

Committed to LSU

The stellar sophomore with a Curry Brand NIL deal was SEC Sixth Woman of the Year and earned honorable mention All-American nods from the AP. But after playing just 18 minutes per game over the past two years for the Gamecocks, she’s looking for greener pastures.

5. Laura Ziegler, St. Joseph’s

Committed to Louisville

A finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year, Ziegler could easily find herself playing for a Power 4 program next season. As a junior for St. Joe’s — where she helped the Hawks make the A-10 tournament title game and go 23-10 — Ziegler averaged 17.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Her defensive rebounds per game, 8.9, were third nationally. The 6-foot-2 forward from Denmark was also the only player in the country this season to averaged at least 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists per game.
