Kyle Larson’s dream of completing “The Double” has come to an end.

Last year the NASCAR Cup Champion became the latest driver to try and complete the motorsport feat, finishing both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same day. But a rain delay in the Indianapolis 500 last year saw him arrive late to the Coca-Cola 600, only to find that the race, which had begun, would not resume due to weather and lightning.

Larson was back trying “The Double” this year, dubbed the “Hendrick 1100” by Hendrick Motorsports, but his time at the Indianapolis 500 has come to an end.

Larson spun on Lap 92 on a restart, hitting the outside wall and ending his chances in the Indianapolis 500:

Here is one more look at Larson’s spin:

Larson was taken to the care center and was quickly released after medical checks. The NASCAR Cup Champion spoke with FOX Sports after he was released:

If there is a silver lining for Larson, the delays to the Indianapolis 500 might have put his Coca-Cola 600 at risk, and with NASCAR instituting new rules for this season, Larson had already stated that the Coca-Cola 600 would need to be his priority.

Now he can head to Charlotte and make the start of that race.
