The professional circuit of women’s golf just got all the more difficult.

On Tuesday morning former star amateur Lottie Woad announced on social media that she is officially turning professional. This has felt inevitable for some time and is now reality.

Woad has been one of the greatest women’s amateurs of all time while playing collegiately at Florida State University. Consider that just a few weeks ago she won the KPMG Women’s Irish Open while still holding amateur status. She carried that status into the Evian and finished T3. Needless to say... she is ready for the next level.

Shortly after Lottie’s announcement her collegiate coach Amy Bond added a few words and noted that she always knew what the future would look like for her - greatness.

Winning on any level is difficult and obviously the competition on the professional one is much more difficult. Conventional wisdom would suggest Lottie may take some time to record her first professional win (under professional status), but recent results seem to run counter to that idea.

Whatever the future of women’s professional golf looks like from a winner’s standpoint... Lottie Woad is going to have her say in it all.

Congratulations to Lottie!
