Signifying they were over the pit road gaffe that cost them the 2014 championship, Logano and the No. 22 team won the Daytona 500. Additional victories would occur at Watkins Glen and Bristol, with only Harvick possessing better week-to-week consistency over the entirety of the regular season.
Using last year's Chase as a template, Logano again records a victory in each of the early rounds to secure advancement and an eventual spot in the finale. This time, though, there is no blunder on pit road as the No. 22 crew executes flawlessly allowing Logano to hold the Sprint Cup trophy.
Regarded as a bona fide contender for the first time, Logano struggles with the pressure of racing with a bullseye. And when he needs a win to stay in the Chase during Round 2, he doesn't deliver to get bounced earlier than expected.
Others have grabbed the majority of the headlines this season, leaving Logano overshadowed. That all changes in the Chase with the 25-year-old storming through the first three brackets before Harvick narrowly beats him at Homestead.
