Predicting a Super Bowl winner in September is tricky. Picking weekly games is hard enough as it is, much less the AFC and NFC champions and the eventual Super Bowl winner five months before the big game even kicks off.
Why do we do it? Because we’ve been thinking about the next Super Bowl since the last one ended. It’s in the back of our minds with every free agent grade, mock draft and anything else that’s not tied to Roger Goodell’s latest legal butt fumble clogging up the court system.
Last year, we picked the Seahawks and Broncos to square off in Super Bowl 49, with the Broncos taking home the big prize. We were kind of right. Our NFL bloggers voted again this year and came up with the Colts and Packers representing the AFC and NFC in the 50th Super Bowl and Aaron Rodgers hoisting the Lombardi Trophy over his head.
It’s not a bad prediction … for early September at least.
