San Diego Chargers

San Diego Chargers

Philip Rivers was one of the top quarterbacks in the league a season ago, and despite offseason rumors that he could be traded, the Chargers will still have their franchise quarterback around after he signed a new contract extension. The Chargers' offense has mostly underperformed due to issues at the running back position, but they hope those issues are a thing of the past with rookie Melvin Gordon on board. Gordon, the team's first-round pick this year, has the potential to be the every-down back San Diego needs.

The Chargers did not do much to address concerns on defense. The pass rush, one of the worst in the NFL last season, should at least be improved with a healthy Melvin Ingram and rookie linebacker Kyle Emanuel. Overall, the Chargers got better and after falling one game short of the playoffs in 2014, they should be able to contend for the AFC West title.

Grittiest Player

Danny Woodhead, RB

PFT Commenter calls Woodhead "The Newsboy," because he always delivers on Sundays. He's a 5'9 pinball who does anything and everything to get the ball in his hands, whether that's as a running back, receiver or returner -- and he finds the end zone. The grittest player in the NFL, hands down.
