Golf is the ultimate individual sport. Every week on the PGA Tour, it's one player vs. the field and vs. the golf course. His success is only dependent on his own actions. He receives assistance from a caddie and is helped by coaches and equipment tech experts, but at the end of the day his success and failures are determined by his own swings of a club.
Then there is the Ryder Cup.
Every two years, the Ryder Cup serves as the ultimate exclamation point to the golf season. The individual aspect of golf is thrust to the side and 24 of the best players in the world come together to form two 12-man teams. It's a wild format that creates plenty of thrills and even more drama. Players who spend that vast majority of their lives competing for themselves are suddenly competing for a much bigger team.
It's the most unique event in golf, one of the best events in sports and it's back for 2016.
