Deron Williams falls short of tying all-time single-game 3-point record

Deron Williams had himself a night for the record books in Brooklyn's 95-78 win over the Washington Wizards. After Williams hit six three-pointers in the first five minutes of the game, we all figured something special was going to happen, and indeed it did. Williams finished with nine in the first half, breaking the record of eight shared by several previous players (Tim Thomas, for one). With those nine threes on 11 attempts, Williams had a 36-point first half, single-handedly outscoring the entire Wizards team in the process (and in fewer minutes).

After that, the single-game record of 12-- shared by Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall-- was in Deron's sights, but he mustered just two more the rest of the way as the Nets cruised to a blowout victory. Williams stayed on the floor through the final seconds, but on what could have been the record-tying final possession, Keith Bogans decided it was his turn to take (and brick) a three. Deron's 11 makes ties Stephen Curry's wild performance in New York the other night.
