2013 Cotton Bowl, Oklahoma vs. Texas A&M: Teams, TV schedule, location and more

Northern Illinois bumps Oklahoma out of the BCS, but the Sooners have a nice landing spot. Texas A&M will once again play in the Cotton, this time representing the SEC West.

Oklahoma, ousted from the BCS by MAC champion Northern Illinois, will settle on the Cotton Bowl, regularly regarded as a bowl just a step shy, if that, of the BCS games in prestige. Texas A&M, 10-2 on the year, will represent the SEC, according to multiple reports from all over. The SEC!

The first Cotton Bowl game was played Jan. 1, 1937, between TCU and Marquette with TCU winning, 16-6. The Texas Longhorns have appeared in the most games, amassing an 11-10-1 record in 22 appearances.

The Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies are tied for second in appearances with 12, with the Razorbacks going 4-7-1 and the Aggies going 4-8 in their games. The SEC has won eight of the past nine games. The game was played in Cotton Bowl stadium from 1937 until the 2010 game before moving to its current location at Cowboys Stadium.

My thoughts on the title sponsor’s services: For the past nine years, the telecom giant has teamed with FOX Sports and the Prostate Cancer Foundation to put on the National College Football Day to honor the birth of college football. The PCF is the designated charity of choice as all involved look to enhance the treatment and awareness of a disease that affects one of out of every six men.

Last year’s score: Arkansas 29, Kansas State 16
