2013 Fiesta Bowl, Oregon vs. Kansas State: Teams, TV schedule, location and more

Kansas State will meet Oregon at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Dec. 3 for the 2013 Fiesta Bowl.

The Fiesta Bowl, still a BCS Bowl for the time being, traditionally pits the Big 12 champion against one of the BCS at-large teams. While the bowl has been the anchor bowl of the Big 12 champion since 1995, that arrangement will be in place only two more seasons, as the Big 12 champion will begin meeting the SEC champion in the Sugar Bowl starting with the 2014 season. It is undetermined at this time whether the Fiesta Bowl will be part of the rotating college football playoff starting in that season.

12-1 Kansas State earns the AQ spot, having won the Big 12 title outright. They’ll get Oregon, the obvious choice for the at-large pick, according to Pete Thamel.

The Fiesta Bowl has provided two of the most iconic bowl moments of the BCS era: Ohio State’s double-overtime upset over Miami for the national championship to conclude the 2002 season, and Boise State’s overtime upset over Oklahoma on New Year’s Day in 2007.

My thoughts on the title sponsor’s services: Tostitos makes corn chips. Corn chips are useful for a lot of things. You can dip them in salsa or guacamole. You can make nachos. You could even make a taco salad if you were so inclined. Moreover, these are all good things to do while you are watching football. As a fan of both eating and football, I give Tostitos my full-fledged endorsement.

Last year’s score: Oklahoma St. 41, Stanford 38 (OT)

Last year’s score: Michigan State Spartans 33, Georgia Bulldogs 30 (3OT)
