Boris Vukcevic has woken from his coma

Thomas NiedermuellerThere is fantastic news out of Heidelberg today with word that Boris Vukcevic has woken from the medically induced coma he has been under for the last month and a half. The Hoffenheim midfielder has been in the coma since he underwent several surgeries in late September due to a car accident.
Vukcevic, 22, is now able to communicate with his family for several hours a day according to Hoffenheim. While the signs of progress are fantastic, it is still too early to determine if the midfielder will be able to make a full recovery. His parents remain at his side and are requesting privacy for their son as he continues to recover from the accident.

Boris Vukcevic has been transferred to a rehabilitation facility earlier this week. The Hoffenheim midfielder’s condition continues to improve to this day.
Vukcevic, 22, has been in the Heidelberg University Hospital since the accident on September 28. After several operations, the midfielder was placed in a medically induced coma where he remains to this day. His condition has improved enough that the doctors feel comfortable enough allowing him to move to nearby rehabilitation facility to continue his treatment.

The Hoffenheim midfielder has been in a coma since suffering severe head trauma in a car accident back on September 28.
The Heidelberg Police and department of public prosecution released a joint statement that their investigation revealed that Vukcevic was suffering from low blood sugar at the time of the accident. During the accident, Vukcevic’s car slid across the centerline into the path of a large truck.
